Mohamed Mounier on an Open Stage
The successful Egyptian musician Mohamed Mounir plays at this year’s Africa Festival in Würzburg. Best of all: He will be performing on an open stage so that lots of spectators will have the opportunity to experience him live.
„King of Kings“
In his home country, the Egyptian plays concerts in front of a hundred thousand fans who worship him as „King of Kings“. Mounir accomplished to combine traditional Egyptian music with common western pop. On June 5th, he will be sharing the stage with German indie rock band „Die Dissidenten“, which is known for its collaborations with Middle Eastern, African and Indian musicians.

Die Dissidenten
As one of the first European bands, „Die Dissidenten“ discovered the North African sound space and with songs like „Sahara Elektrik“ or „Telephone Arab“ actually became famous over there. Vocalist Roman Bunka, who is also the guitar player of „Die Dissidenten“, is an integral part of Mounirs‘ band. Dissidenten and Mounir – a collaboration that’s going to delight all fans of North African music.

Der ägyptische Megastar Mohamed Mounir kommt zum Africa Festival in Würzburg. Und das Beste: Er wird auf der offenen Bühne spielen, so daß es ganz vielen Besuchern möglich sein wird, ihn zu erleben.
„King of Kings“
Der Ägypter spielt in seiner Heimat vor hunderttausenden von Fans und wird von seinen Fans als der „King of Kings“ verehrt. Mounir ist es gelungen, die traditionelle Musik Ägyptens mit dem Pop des Westens zu vermählen. Gemeinsam mit der Gruppe „Die Dissidenten“ wird er am 05. Juni Abends auftreten.
Die Dissidenten
Die Dissidenten spielten bereits Weltbeat, als es den Begriff noch gar nicht gab. Als eine der ersten europäischen Bands erforschten sie den nordafrikanischen Klangraum und wurden dort mit Songs wie „Sahara Elektrik“ oder „Telephone Arab“ berühmt. Der Sänger Roman Bunka, Gitarrist bei den Dissidenten, zählt seit vielen Jahren auch zur festen Bandbesetzung Mounirs. Dissidenten und Mounir – eine Begegnung, die Fans der nordafrikanischen Musik begeistern wird.
